COVID-19 Resources and Communications

The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has disrupted the lives of people across the planet, including ours here at the Earth Institute. Like so many others, we have transitioned to remote work, postponed travel and events, and found ways to stay connected to our friends and colleagues even as we remain physically distant from them. But we have continued our work, conducting research, producing content and virtual events, and successfully managing our operations remotely. I continue to be impressed by all of my colleagues at the Earth Institute and Columbia for their perseverance and hard work during this challenging time.

We are continuing to closely monitor the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Our top priority remains the health, safety, and well-being of our community, on and off campus. Following Columbia University’s guidance, we are planning for several reopening stages to limit the spread of COVID-19 while ensuring the continuity of our teaching and research mission. The research ramp-up that began on the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory Campus on June 24, 2020 was an important first step back from the restrictions under which we have been operating due to COVID-19. All staff and researchers on the Morningside campus should continue to work remotely until further guidance is provided.

Thank you to the entire Earth Institute community for your ongoing patience and cooperation to ensure the health and safety of our community as we phase in our return to campus.

This webpage includes a comprehensive list of resources and information, and will be updated frequently to reflect any new guidance and/or new procedures. Due to the ever-evolving nature of the COVID-19 situation, please check back regularly.
